Fishing for both native and stocked trout is available in a variety of local streams and rivers including Jack's River, Conasauga River, Toccoa River and the Mulky Recreation Area.
Other spots include Lake Blue Ridge and the Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery. The Hatchery is located 20 miles south of Morganton off Georgia Highway 60.
U.S. Forest Service Boat ramps are located at Lakewood off old U.S. 76; Morganton Point, off Highway 60, and the Blue Ridge Recreation Area off Dry Branch Road.
U.S. Forest Service offers fishing at Deep Hole, Mulkey Creek, Coopers Creek, andRock Creek. Handicap access is available at Deep Hole.
Shallowford Bridge - 7.9 miles south on Aska Road
Shallowford Bridge is an old one-lane bridge over the Toccoa River. You can fish under the bridge or along the dirt road to the right following the river on the Benton MacKaye Trail.
Aska Road Just before you reach Shallowford Bridge you see a "wide spot in the road" this a poular local fishing hole.
Tammen Park Just Off Appalachian Hwy (515/76)
Tammen Park is a very popular place to fly fish for trout in the Toccoa River below the Lake Blue Ridge Dam. Call in advance for water-release information 800-238-2264.
Horseshoe Bend Park - River Road off of Highway 60 in McCaysville
Horseshoe Bend Park is a beautiful park with good trout fishing on the Toccoa River. From Blue Ridge take Highway 515/76 east. Turn left onto Hwy 60 stay straight until you see River Road on your left. Turn left then drive a short distance to the Park. Horseshoe Bend Park offers a playground, picnic pavilions, and restrooms.
